Can Bheestie Bags Really Save Your Droid From A Watery Death?

At one point or another, we’ve all experienced having our phones dive into a puddle, a bathtub, a pool, or a toilet. Although we can’t do anything about accidents happening, the Bheestie bag can probably help with a bit of damage control.
The Bheestie bag has actually been around for around quite some time now. It’s a pouch that contains a little bag of moisture-absorbing pellets. The idea is similar to that of putting silica gel packets in shoe boxes or using a bag of uncooked rice as a dehumidifier. What you do is you dry your phone as much as you can, take the battery out, dunk it in the pouch and seal it tightly. You’ll probably notice the pouch heat up after a while. Don’t worry – it’s a sign that it’s doing its job. Try to keep your curiosity in check and leave the bag sealed from 24 to 72 hours before taking your phone out.

A Look into the Galaxy Ace Plus

With an earlier unveiling by Samsung on January 3, the Galaxy Ace Plus seems to be yet another budget phones for users interested in Android, that do not want to spend a lot of coin. The phone is said to release in Russia, with European countries to follow later this month, or even early February.

HzO Lets You Fully Submerge Your Device In Water With No Ill Effects

How many times have you dropped a phone in water? A puddle, bucket, bathtub, lake, toilet (don't act like it doesn't happen)... whatever. Phone attracting bodies of water are seemingly everywhere, and unless you're willing to put your phone in a ginormous waterproof case, once that beautiful piece of tech meets the life-affirming liquid substance, it's usually hosed (but sometimes rice can help).

Enter HzO, a company who looks to make our devices fully submergible. This is possible by a special coating on all of the electronic components inside the device, a process which takes place during manufacturing. The best part (aside from the fact that you can play with your phone in the bathtub) is that it shouldn't add any retail cost to the device. Bam.

Rumor Has It that Verizon and Sprint Will Get the Samsung Galaxy Note, Possibly Under a New Name

Wait till you hear the latest rumor circling the interwebs right now.. I know it’s definitely got me excited! According to the Examiner, the highly controversial Samsung Galaxy Note is heading to both Sprint and Verizon after it makes it self at known with AT&T. Industry analyst, Paul Mueller,  told the Examiner that the device will be available only any one of the big three carriers in 2012. Mueller claims ”It will possibly be called the Galaxy Journal. But it is certainly coming to both Sprint and Verizon during the first half of the year.”

Some of you may hate the thought of this device because of its massive 5.3-inch screen. To be honest, when it was first announced in 2011 I was a bit skeptical myself, but after seeing it in person at this years CES, I fell in love. There is something to be said about having that much screen so readily available (yes, it does fit comfortably in my pocket) instead of always relying on toting around a 7 0r 10-inch tablet. Don’t get me wrong, the Note will never replace the joy of using a tablet, but for those like myself who use the web and multimedia all day on their phones — this is a great portable compromise.

Hate it as much as you want, but unless you have personally held one in your hand and have tinkered with its usefulness, you should refrain from bashing it until you have. If this rumor holds any truth, and is indeed heading to Verizon, then, well… anybody want to buy a Galaxy Nexus?

What about you? Do you have any interest in Samsung’s 5.3-inch phablet?

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Users Affected by Reboot Bug

The new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is an extremely amazing phone. I love mine so much my sweetie fears that I will run off with it. It’s the first device to run Android 4.0 and the first “Google Experience” device on Verizon’s network. However being that it’s a brand new device with a brand new OS it’s sure to have its own set of bugs and problems.

As it is, numerous users are reporting that there is a bug that causes their devices to randomly reboot. Most that are reporting the bug are those with the GSM model, however, Verizon’s CDMA model isn’t free of it. There isn’t a pinpoint cause for the bug as it can happen while streaming music, playing games or even when the device is idle. Users are finding that the frequency of the issue happens more and more as time progresses but Google has indicated that they are aware of the problem and are investigating the issue. Are you guys having these issues?

Hands-On With Edifier’s Bluetooth Spinnaker Speakers, Works With Smartphones and Tablets While Adding Some Style

While perusing the CES show floor we happened to come across Edifier’s booth, the company who is well known for manufacturing high-end speakers and other audio products.  And this go-around they’ve brought their A-Game as far as the wireless speaker dept goes.  So what makes Edifier stand out from the rest?  Well, the company definitely offers some unique and interesting designs.  While there were many designs available which offered great functionality and a fantastic look, one set of speakers particularly caught my eye.  The Edifier Spinnaker Speakers standing at 15-inches tall and touting front-facing tweeter and mid-range speakers along with downward-facing sub woofers located at the bottom.

The speakers allow you to pair any Bluetooth enabled device such as a tablet or smartphone seamlessly and with ease.  There’s also a wireless remote control included which offers a ton of functionality and interaction.  It can be used to play, pause, regulate the volume and skip tracks. These bad boys are clear, loud and take the shape of a horn believe it or not.  A bit unorthodox we know, but damn if they don’t look cool next to my Galaxy S II.  You can purchase this particular model in both Black or Burgundy.  Check out the demo below of the hands-on touting the crystal clear sound of OneRepublic’s “Good Life” and don’t forget to let us know what you think in the comments below.  In addition to the Spinnaker model, we snagged some screen shots of some other oddly but cool designed pairs of speakers as well.  So be sure to hit the break to give them a one-over.
